Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli will be looking to put the disappointment of Barcelona behind him at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, June 28.

The Italian failed to finish a race for the first time this season when he was forced to retire on lap 62 of the Barcelona Grand Prix due to a battery problem.

Antonelli had just overtaken Silver Arrows team-mate George Russell on the previous lap to move up to P2 behind Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, who had built up a commanding lead.

The 19-year-old's remarkable run of five successive wins came to an end in the process and it was also the first time he had missed out on the podium in 2026.

Antonelli is still 41 points clear of his closest rival, Hamilton, at the top of the Drivers' standings, while Russell occupies third place a further nine points back.

The teenager described the setback in Montmelo as a hiccup, but is hoping the team can find a solution to their reliability problem.

"Of course, it's very disappointing, but these things happen," Antonelli said. "It happened to George in Canada; it happened to me this time.

"It's definitely something we need to work on as a team, because it's important points that we lost.

"But these things can happen, especially in the first year of regulation. It's not always easy to find the perfect reliability.

"I feel like we're on an incredible run. Of course, today feels like a little bit of a bump on the road. But the important thing is that we get back up and we come back stronger."

2026 Barcelona Grand Prix results:

Winner: Lewis Hamilton - Ferrari

Second Place: George Russell - Mercedes

Third Place: Lando Norris - McLaren
